Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak committee, Sri Amritsar came into existence in 1925, with the Gurdwara Act passed by theParliament of Sikhs. It is Also described as a State within State and Mini Parliament of Sikhs. Inspite of its role in spreading Sikhism, SGPC is committed to spread the value based education in academically backward areas of Punjab, Haryana and other states. Its first step in this direction was the opening of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mantunga, Mumbai in 1937. Turning to the educational domain, it is worth mentioning that at present the SGPC under the dynamic leadership of jathedar Avtar Singh is running a Total of 72 schools and 39 colleges which also include 4 Engineering, 2 Medical Colleges in the state of PUnjab as well as some other states of the country.Recently it has also set up a full- fledged multi-0n disciplinary university- Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University at the historic town of Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. The SGPC Educational Institutuins admit students without any discriminaion of caste, creed adn religion. Keeping in mind the academic needs of the people of Panokhra Sahib and surrounding areas, the SGPC has revived Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Khalsa Collegbe, Panjokhra Sahib. Under the able management of SGPC, different traditional courses like B.A. and B.Com. are running successfully. From the academic session 2013-14 two new professional courses BCA and PGDCA are also introduced in the college. I Congratulate and welcome the students who have joined this college for their bright future. In addition to including the rich heritage and traditions among the students, the institution will also impart the moral values in the students through socio- religio-cultural activities.
